Post Budget address

Following the Opposition Leader’s budget reply speech, Advance Cairns, the Cairns Chamber of Commerce, and Tourism Tropical North Queensland welcomed Shadow Treasurer, the Hon Angus Taylor MP for an in-depth discussion on the economic outlook and policy priorities.

Mr Taylor addressed key issues, including inflation, housing shortages, and the impact on living standards. He emphasised the need for policies to boost economic growth, support small businesses, and tackle housing and energy challenges.

The conversation also highlighted the importance of regional economies, particularly Cairns, and the need for infrastructure investment. Mr Taylor spoke about the impact of global trade tensions, the role of migration, and the need for a balanced approach to workforce challenges. Productivity, skills shortages, and the role of education were also key topics of discussion.
