JENNIFER SPILSBURY
Chief Executive Officer

Jennifer joined Advance Cairns as CEO in January 2026, bringing more than 30 years’ experience in communications, engagement and advocacy.

She has held senior leadership roles in the media industry, including editor of the Cairns Post and Daily Mercury in Mackay.

Cairns-born, Jennifer is a fierce advocate for northern Queensland, with deep insight into the region’s challenges and opportunities. She is an accomplished campaigner and strong leader with the ability to bring stakeholders together.

Jennifer is committed to achieving ambitious outcomes for the region through strong stakeholder engagement, government and private investor relations, clear communication and impactful campaigns.

She has served on the News Corp Australia editorial board, was deputy chair of the Mackay Hospital Foundation, and is currently a board member of Golf Queensland.

FRANKIE OPIE
Operations Manager

Frankie brings a  strong understanding of regional development, public policy, and stakeholder engagement with over 30 years of experience across government and the not-for-profit sector.

Having worked closely with government, industry, and community organisations to support initiatives that drive sustainable economic growth, strengthen local industries, and enhance outcomes with a particular focus on regional communities.

INGE HANSEN
Government Relations Manager

Inge has freelanced as a graphic designer for more than 30 years, owned her bookshop and run a small publishing company. 

For over 10 years she was the CEO of a member-based not-for-profit organisation and has extensive experience in program management, economic development and stakeholder engagement across government, private and public sectors.
