Advance Cairns invites you to the official launch of our ten year regional strategy – Roadmap 2035: A Framework to Strengthen Far North Queensland.

Join us as we unveil our ambitious strategic vision for Far North Queensland for the next decade and beyond – Roadmap 2035. This plan outlines key priorities which will drive growth, sustainability and prosperity across our region for the next ten years.

At the official launch of Roadmap 2035, a panel of industry leaders will highlight the emerging and expanding sectors shaping our region’s future. This exclusive discussion will showcase three regional businesses that leverage our strengths to drive economic growth, foster new industries, and further diversify Far North Queensland. From a globally significant tungsten mine to the world’s third-largest high-purity silica processing plant, and a first-of-its-kind project capturing the economic potential of a domestic Sustainable Aviation Fuel industry—this event will outline transformative opportunities ahead.

Panellists:
EQ Resources
EQ Resources’ Mt Carbine Mine is a globally significant tungsten mining operation in Far North Queensland, Australia and is the largest primary producer of tungsten concentrates in Australia. The operation focuses sustainable operations through advanced technologies like XRT ore sorting and the retreatment of low-grade stockpiles. EQ Resources currently employs 150 people in Australia, supporting mining, processing and quarrying activities. Mt Carbine’s operations contribute to the critical minerals supply chain, with tungsten being essential for industrial, technological, and defence applications.

  Ryan MacNeill
Operations Manager, Mt Carbine
Ryan MacNeill is a senior professional in the mining and resources sector, specializing in project development, operational growth, corporate finance and regional expansion. Ryan currently oversees operations at the Mt Carbine Tungsten Mine owned by EQ Resources Ltd (ASX:EQR). He has played a pivotal role in transforming Mt Carbine from pilot plant operations into a world-class asset and leading tungsten concentrate producer, utilizing innovative technologies and trusted processing methodologies to drive critical metals production.
He brings expertise in the evaluation, financing, transaction structuring, and operational management of mining and mineral processing projects across Africa, Europe, Asia, and Australia. His passion for fostering operational excellence and regional growth has made him a key player in advancing mining initiatives while delivering sustainable outcomes for key stakeholders.

Jet Zero
Jet Zero Australia is a home-grown biofuel company leading the development of a domestic Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) industry that will transform and benefit regional Australia.

  Adam Douglas
Industrial Manager
Adam Douglas brings over 30 years of experience in the Australian sugar industry, beginning his career at Mulgrave Mill. He spent 22 years at Wilmar, where he served as Regional Operations Manager for the Macknade and Victoria sugar mills, the latter being Australia’s largest single sugar milling operation. Adam has played a pivotal role in developing strategies for upstream industrial portfolios and expanding ethanol feedstock production. Currently, he is the Industrial Manager for Jet Zero, overseeing operations for the proposed 100ML Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) plant, Project Ulysses, in Townsville. A mechanical engineer by profession, Adam is based in Townsville.

Silica Resources Australia
Silica Resources Australia (SRA) is a public, unlisted, critical minerals company that is fully independent and 100% Australian owned. SRA was formed specifically to be the owner of the Mourilyan Silica Sands Project which is located just south of Innisfail near the Port of Mourilyan. The rare, naturally occurring high-purity silica sand found in the Mourilyan deposit will provide a stable supply of high quality silica to drive the energy transition and has the power to position Australia as a leading global supplier of responsibly-produced silica.

  Peter Lansom
Executive Chairman
Peter has over 30 years’ experience in resource exploration, appraisal and development, working in executive roles within ASX-listed companies including Galilee Energy, Eastern Star Gas, Origin Energy and Santos.
Peter holds a Bachelor of Petroleum Engineering (Honours) degree from the University of NSW. Over the past eight years Peter has been Managing Director of Galilee Energy and has overseen the significant growth of this company as it seeks to grow from explorer to become a significant new gas supplier into the Eastern Australia gas market.
