For 120 years, BDO NTH QLD has been helping local businesses and communities thrive and in 2026, the firm is proudly celebrating this incredible milestone that began in 1906. 🎉
As the largest full-service accounting and advisory firm in Cairns, BDO’s deep connection to the Far North is reflected not only in the clients they support, but in the people who lead the business.
At the helm are Chief Executive Officer Stacey Young and Managing Partner Todd Kelly, two highly respected leaders with decades of experience and a genuine affinity for the region.
Todd has been part of BDO in the Far North for more than 26 years and says despite ongoing inflationary pressures, there is still strong activity and confidence in the region.
“There is business happening – Cairns remains relatively busy,” Todd said.
While acknowledging businesses are cautious around current economic conditions and recent Federal Government tax reform announcements, Todd says the Far North has remained comparatively resilient compared with larger markets such as Sydney and Melbourne.
Stacey’s story is a true local success story. Originally from the Tablelands, she began her journey with BDO as an office junior in the firm’s former Grafton Street office. Ten years into her role as CEO, Stacey has worked her way through the ranks predominantly in HR, while balancing life as a proud mum of two.
Together, Stacey and Todd lead a team of around 80 staff based in the Corporate Tower in the Cairns CBD, supporting clients across a wide range of industries, from small businesses to large enterprises and many family-run operations.
As they celebrate 120 years servicing and supporting the local community, BDO continues to demonstrate why local knowledge, strong relationships and investment in people remain at the heart of their success.
