There isn’t one tiny part of Hinterland Aviation that Andrew Clair doesn’t know about.

From the check-in counter to the maintenance hub, through departures and to lift-off, Andrew is across it all.

Hailing from Atherton, Andrew has worked his way to the top of the business starting as a general hand at 21 when the dream was to be a pilot. Little did he know at the time he would one day become the chief executive officer. ✨

Hinterland Aviation, on Tom McDonald Drive, proudly services the Far North from Cairns to the Torres Strait and Townsville to Palm Island.

The airline is an aviation lifeline servicing Cape communities with its fleet of 14 Cessna C208 Caravans carrying everyone from government workers to residents, as well as tourists to Lizard Island.

The future of their business is now with two Cessna C408 SkyCouriers arriving later this year to boldly go where they haven’t flown before … and with more people onboard. The SkyCouriers will increase passenger capacity from 12 to 19.

Like all businesses Andrew is keeping a close eye on fuel prices due to the Iranian conflict, but he knows a bit about turbulence – his induction to the top job was a Covid cyclone.

A leader who values the power of a positive work culture, Andrew is proud of how the company not only survived but thrived through the pandemic. 🌞

“We were able to rein in our costs – from top to bottom – and work through without having to lose any staff,” Andrew said.
