Core Activities

• Monitor key components of the regional economy to identify any factors or trends that would impede economic development.
• Assess the infrastructure needs of the regional economy, monitor infrastructure development plans and influence outcomes to meet the region’s needs.
• Identify business development opportunities at an industry and business level and coordinate the efforts of Advance Cairns and its Members to pursue such opportunities.
• Raise the profile of the region as a preferred place to invest, highlighting the inherent advantages of the region such as its proximity to growing Asian markets.
• Monitor and seek to influence government policy and legislative plans to ensure there are no regulatory impediments to sustainable regional economic development.
• Assess risks to the region’s economy and coordinate the activities of Members to ensure such risks are appropriately managed.
